HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE FRUIT LEATHERS
If you have been looking for an easy healthy snack, please enjoy this recipe for making fruit leathers. Today we will be telling you how to make blackberry fruit leathers. However, you can make any fruit leathers of your choice by simply changing the fruit. Baking takes anywhere from 4 to 5 hours, for we will be using a slow and low-temperature recipe. The lower the temperature, the longer the cooking/drying time (oven temperature of 145-175°F). Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Fresh blackberries
- 2 cups
Granulated sugar
- ¼ cup
Juice of half a lemon
Equipment:
Spatula
Juicer
Food processor
- Can use a food masher if not available
Parchment paper
Pre-lined jelly roll dish
Lined with parchment paper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 175°F
Before dropping blackberries into the food processor, make sure to thoroughly
wash your fruit
Juice half of a lemon, and pour into food processor along with the berries
Pour granulated sugar into the food processor then blend
Blend until mixture is almost liquid
5. It is best to have a jelly roll dish where the edges are about half an inch
Pour THIN layer of mixture into dish
If pour too thick, the processing/baking time takes longer
Less than ¼ inch thin
Shake and move dish around for thin layer to disperse to size of dish
Transfer dish to oven and bake for 4 to 5 hours
After a couple of hours, check on fruit leather and rotate dish
Allow fruit leather to rest overnight or throughout the day after being removed from the
oven
Cut fruit leather into strips on parchment paper and roll
