Preserving Traditions, One Seed at a Time

Si Ho-ta
Seed Library

The Si Ho-ta Seed Library, an initiative by the Quapaw Nation Farmers Market, aims to preserve and distribute quality seeds to community members. Offering up to five free packets per person, the library features open-pollinated, non-GMO, heirloom varieties such as Quapaw Red Corn, Rutgers Tomatoes, and Clemson Spineless Okra. Located at the Quapaw Farmers Market & Food Hub, this program supports sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty within the community.

Beyond seed distribution, the library provides educational resources on planting, pollination, seed collection, and storage. By encouraging seed saving and sharing, the Si Ho-ta Seed Library fosters community engagement and promotes the cultivation of traditional and nutritious crops. This initiative reflects the Quapaw Nation’s commitment to preserving agricultural heritage and enhancing food security for future generations.
